I had this at my friend Beth's birthday party and it was the best shortcake I've ever had!!!
3 c sugar
1/2 lb butter
1/2 c shortening
5 eggs
1/4 tsp salt
3 c flour
3/4 c evaporated milk
1/4 c water
3 tsp almond extract
Cream sugar, butter and shortening. Add eggs and salt. Cream well. Add remaining ingredients.
Pour into a lightly greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
When cake has cooled, top with cool whip and sliced strawberries.
