Becky L's Bagels

Mix together 1 ½ cup warm water, 1 Tbs yeast, 3 Tbs sugar, 1 Tbs salt, and 4 cups flour. Let sit for 15 minutes after mixing. Pinch off into 12 balls. Press thumbs through center of ball to make a hole 1” or more. Raise for 20 minutes. Boil dough in water with 1 Tbs sugar for 2 minutes (1 minute on each side). Drain on towel. Bake on cookie sheet with corn meal at 400 degrees F for 20-30 minutes. Makes about 12 bagels.
